Reimagining leadership in the AI era

As I am going through the AI in Journalism leadership cohort, I am learning how much leaders must learn to navigate change while balancing technology and human insight. Here is one instance.
Last week, we had a part one session on AI for Leaders & Managers. In it, we explored how we can harness artificial intelligence to amplify our leadership strengths and address our areas for improvement. The course delved into the intersections of self-leadership, organizational leadership, team leadership and thought leadership – all under the transformative lens of AI impact.
Some practical strategies we explored included using AI for meeting documentation, scheduling and content creation. To me, the big takeaways included recognizing that constant change demands adaptive thinking and lifelong learning; that championing ethical AI leadership can drive innovation and fair outcomes; and how balancing tech solutions with human-centered empathy may empower teams to innovate and adapt
The class prompted us to identify our unique superpowers and consider how AI can turbocharge our strengths. I appreciated this.
What should you consider when thinking about AI in public media? A major lesson is the importance of blending technology with traditional leadership skills – how can AI help you. In the AI era, being a better leader means continuously evolving and embracing new tools. You don’t need to know it all, but clarity and understanding go a long way.
I look forward to applying these insights to drive growth in our teams and contribute to a culture of innovation. I’m also excited to reimagine leadership for a future where technology and human connection work hand in hand.
Do you have questions about AI? Shoot me a note. I'm happy to help.
