Reimagining AI: Purpose-Driven and Centered on Love for Humanity

We don't often use the word love when we talk about the development of AI... but we should.?

Maybe love of humanity is the pivot we now need to reimagine how we will design and deploy artificial intelligence. As the “headliner” at World Summit AI (https://worldsummit.ai/) this week, I asked “What kind of AI future do we really want?” I think we want a world where #AI affirms our dignity, centers our humanity and enables us to be as great as we can be.

Here are three common sense principles that should be embedded into the imagination of these new technologies that will give us a better world:??

1. Community Centered: Center communities who use them, not merely as consumers, but as shared architects. If we build tools that actually empower people in addressing their local and meaningful challenges, we’ll unlock an entirely different set of outcomes that serve a greater good.?
2. Widely Accessible: Move AI from small, limited centers of deep research to a broader base of research and action. With a significantly more diverse group of people building these tools, we might have a different conception of the problems and the solutions. The tools we build will be much more robust and representative of what we all seek to achieve.
3. Values driven: Design is the expression of values - designing AI systems should reflect our shared principles of equity and fairness. Technologists are in the design of these processes. Do we stop and ask, what are the values behind the tools we're creating and the outcomes we're creating in the world??

AI by itself will not transform humanity - but we can transform our own futures through the use? of AI.? Doing so requires a common intention. We need to come together to question, to critique, and eventually to build the world we want.?

Imagine what the world would look like if we built products that weren't defined by what the market tells us is profitable, but instead what our hearts tell us is essential.
