Reimagine: The Executive Consultant & Keynote Speaking Engagements

We talk to a lot of coaches and consultants. Many of them are very good at what they do and have full schedules and workloads. However, they also desire to make a more significant impact on their clients and organizations.

What if, as a coach or consultant, you could...

  • Help more people
  • Keep people engaged between the times you meet with them
  • Reach more roles and employees in the organizations you work with
  • Develop additional streams of revenue
  • Multiply the impact of solutions you've already developed in your current book(s), presentations, modules, and content

All of this and more are possible. It's doable in a way that could 2-3X your revenue and 100X your impact! It's time to reimagine the traditional coaching/consulting engagement.

...2-3X your revenue and 100X your impact!

The Traditional Approach

As a coach or consultant, you have regular meetings set up with your clients. These may be quarterly, monthly, or weekly, but they happen regularly. Let's take two coach/consultant models as an example: the executive consultant and the keynote speaker.

The Executive Consultant

The engagements you have with executive leadership teams may look like this (change the x-axis to monthly or weekly if that's a better fit).

Graph showing quarterly consulting engagements but minimal engagement between meetings.

You're a high-impact consultant, so the times you're with your clients are extraordinary! You have their full attention, you make significant progress, and you stretch their thinking. You introduce new processes and paradigms for addressing the challenges they are facing. You've strategically aligned your content to help them make real progress on their business (or personal) goals and objectives.

Then you leave.

What happens in between meetings?

Often very little.

You wonder,

  • Does my consulting trickle down to the rest of the organization?
  • Are they following through on the commitments they made?
  • How can I better measure the impact I'm making?
  • Is my time making a difference?

For many consultants, these questions frustrate them.

They're disappointed that their clients don't follow through on the work from the previous meeting and prep work for the next meeting. They're disappointed that the impact of their consulting doesn't permeate and reach more people in the organization in a more significant way. Finally, they're disappointed that they're not making a more substantial impact faster.

What if there was a better way?

The Keynote Speaker

In addition to your coaching and consulting practice, you've been fortunate enough to become a subject matter expert (SME) and have opportunities to speak to large audiences of people. Your engagement with these crowds may look something like this.

Graph showing a single day spike in engagement and then it returning to 0 over time.

You're a dynamic speaker and SME, so you make an impact while you're up on stage. The crowd is engaged. People take notes. There's a line of people to talk to you after the presentation. People approach you about working with their organization, and there is social media buzz in the days after your presentation.

Then everyone leaves.

What happens next?

Often nothing.

You wonder,

  • I inspired people during my 45-minute presentation, but what long-lasting impact did it make?
  • Will people apply what they learned?
  • I was only able to talk to three people after the presentation. How can I connect with more of my audience?
  • Is this a one-time event, or will it help me generate future consulting opportunities?

For many speakers, these questions frustrate them.

They're passionate about their subject. They're gifted communicators. They want to make an impact. They also need to feed their family. They want a greater return on all the time and effort they put into preparing for their keynote.

What if there was a better way?

The Reimagined Approach

Let's reimagine what this could look like...

The Executive Consultant

Imagine you had superpowers and could offering consulting services in a way that you never have before. Of course, you still do your in-person engagements, but you're also able to...

  • Continue coaching your executive leadership teams from a distance. You provide regular reminders, challenges, and prompts to keep what you discussed top of mind.
  • Reach deeper into the organization. Instead of just hoping the strategic vision and training trickles down to mid-management and front-line supervisors, you coach them as well through cohorts and automated coaching that emphasizes the same topics you are working on with the executive team.
  • Measure progress by tracking critical behaviors, sending out regular check-ins, and conducting surveys.
  • Prove a return by showing how your consulting has impacted vital business outcomes at scale. Then, renewing your consulting services and increasing the level of engagement with you is an easy decision!

Instead of your impact only happening once a quarter, it looks more like this...

The Keynote Speaker

You're no longer just a keynote speaker that inspires an audience for 45 minutes and then leaves. Imagine having the power to engage your audience for weeks and even months after an event. You still deliver your dynamic keynote but you're also able to...

  • Capture your audience's info with a QR code during your presentation. Then, you conduct a giveaway and share free, actionable best practices each week with those registered.
  • Offer a $199 (or $99, $49, or $499; you set the price) automatic coaching experience in the weeks following the keynote where you help your audience implement and apply what they've learned.
  • Build relationships with your audience through a series of weekly best practices that help your people grow and increase their impact. These can be simple content pieces or complex assessments and tools.
  • Prepare them for the launch of a new product that you release five weeks after your keynote. Then, when it roles out, you have a friendly audience primed and ready to sign-up and get started.

Instead of your keynote being an isolated, single-day, 45-minute experience, it leads to a long-term engagement with your audience that looks more like this...

Graph showing high engagement during the keynote and several weeks afterwards.

And the best part...

... for the Executive Consultant and Keynote Speaker is that everything is:

  • Automatic - It requires almost no time to operate, allowing you to focus on where you really add value, like building relationships and strategic in-person engagements.
  • Repeatable - Did you sign a new client or keynote? No worries, what you used last time can quickly be executed and repeated.
  • Scalable - Is your audience 300 people instead of 75 people? Are you working with a 3k person organization instead of a 500 person organization? No worries. Your solution can scale to any size.

And most importantly, it leads to MORE IMPACT and MORE REVENUE! It could 2-3X your revenue and 100X your impact!

2-3x revenue? 100x impact? Not sure I believe that.

I've made this claim multiple times, is it for real? Let's imagine that you're an executive consultant that earns $100k each year working with the executive team of 7 people at a large organization. You've worked with this client for several years and have a great relationship. However, you're struggling to land another new client like this as it takes at least 9-12 months due to incredibly long sales cycles.

What if instead of going after another large client, you look for ways to increase engagement and reach at your existing client?

Could you earn another $100k from this organization if you're able to coach the next layer of 50 leaders? This engagement would be a mix of in-person cohorts and automated coaching. If they're already paying $100k for 8 executives, they most likely will think 50 people for another $100k is a deal!

Let's take it a step further. What if you're then able to coach all 500 front-line supervisors and managers through fully automated coaching experiences. Is that work another $100k? This company thinks so.

So you went from working with 8 leaders and $100k in revenue to working with over 550 leaders and $300k in revenue.

That's a 3X increase in revenue and 80X increase in impact.

That doesn't account for the future pipeline of leaders you are now developing, the momentum of having an entire organization aligned, and the additional insights you gain from working with leaders at all levels. So yet's it's possible!

(This is a real example from a consultant we've worked with.)

How can I help?

Let's work together to reimagine the traditional coaching/consulting engagement.

I spend my days helping coaches and consultants figure out how to deliver better client experiences and increase their impact through consulting, coaching, workshops, and speaking engagements.

If I can serve you in any way or you're dreaming about what's possible, then?let's chat! I'd love to connect and see how I can help.
