Reidsville, NC Drivers Achieve Safety Milestone. No small feat given extreme weather conditions
Over the past several months, the Reidsville, North Carolina (U.S.) driving team has celebrated several safety milestones. The site received its latest One Million Mile Safe Driving Award for the 20 July through 20 December 2018 time period. This was no small feat given the extreme weather, including Hurricanes Florence and Michael and their associated extensive flooding of the delivery area, combined with an early December snow storm that left 12+ inches of record snowfall.
In addition to this terminal award, two veteran drivers achieved personal Million Mile safe driving milestones.
Wayne Fisher (right) received his One Million Mile safe Driving Award in July 2018 and contributed his success to focusing on the task at hand and always driving defensively. "You have to constantly look ahead and react early," Wayne said. "You have to not let things distract you when you are driving, including all the new technology in the truck and be focused and in control at all times."
Ronnie Hodges (left) received his Two Million Mile Safe Driving Award in November 2018. When asked how he achieved this milestone he shared that he focuses on work only. When he's on the job, he doesn't let things distract him like personal issues or worry about things he can't control. Ronnie also attributes his success to the mindset that the truck isn't going to stop, similar to how a race car driver thinks on the race track. "You have to constantly anticipate your next move and leave yourself a cushion and options to react to what is happening around you," said Ronnie.
