Rehearse Until You Can’t Mess It Up ??????

There was so much I learned about life through my band. One thing that’s always stuck with me:

Rehearsal is where you practice until you can’t do it wrong.

There is no way we are going to nail a song magically the first time on stage.

This has also taught me to rehearse in other areas of my life like tense CONVERSATIONS.

We can dismantle trust, stop teams in their tracks, crush creativity… simply by the words we choose.

The future of leadership is thoughtful with their words and maybe more importantly, they prepare to LISTEN to the other person.

Here’s a quick checklist to prepare you for a difficult conversation this week. If you find yourself answering NO to any of these, it’s time to prepare more:

• Am I able to believe the best about this person at the moment?
• Do I have enough time to be patient and hear them out?
• Do I want to know more? Am I curious? (or am I too upset?)
• Do I believe this person can solve the problem on their own? (Or am I trying to rescue them from their misery?)

Practicing, preparing, and making sure we are ready to hit the stage is one of the most important things we can do.
