Routines are good for most things. Speaking and presenting is not one. For many first meetings it's usually just me or one of my key staff. The competition usually needs 4 people but only 1 or 2 do the talking.

Approach is everything. We've already prepared and have practiced our approach and what we say hundreds of times. They competition has one person who launches into a boring brochure or PowerPoint. When asked why we didn't bring 4 people, we often say one riot, one ranger.
