Regina Angelorum Academy Hires First President

The RAA Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Patrick Boyden as RAA’s first President. Mr. Boyden will join RAA from Independence Mission Schools (IMS), where he has served as the Deputy Chief of Operations and Enrollment.? The Board determined that adopting a President/Principal leadership model will help ensure that the day-to-day administration remains personally engaged with the needs of our students, faculty, and parents, while solidifying the school’s accelerating growth. In spring 2023, the Board began a national search and interviewed the top candidates over six months.?? As President, Mr. Boyden will report directly to the Board alongside Mrs. Coffey in her role as Principal. He will work very closely with Mrs. Coffey and will be responsible for the overall direction of the school, focusing on strategic vision, development, facility planning, and external affairs.?

Mr. Boyden is a proud product of the Catholic liberal arts tradition. He studied theology and political philosophy at Georgetown University, where he also founded a chapter of the Love & Fidelity Network, before continuing his studies in Catholic education at the University of Notre Dame. After beginning his career as a Teaching Fellow with Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) program, Mr. Boyden and his family lived in Cambridge, MA, where he served as the Principal of St. Peter School while his wife pursued her graduate studies in political theory. At St. Peter, Mr. Boyden oversaw a wide range of successful initiatives to strengthen the school’s Catholic identity, grow enrollment, bolster the school’s financial health, and expand its campus. Since moving to Philadelphia, Mr. Boyden has directed key functions for all 14 IMS schools, including admissions, marketing, facilities management, transportation, nutrition, and student health services.

Mr. Boyden is active in the local Catholic community and the pro-life movement and is also a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. He is a champion of authentic Catholic education and the moral and intellectual formation of young people. We are confident that, in partnership with Mrs. Coffey, Mr. Boyden will lead RAA into an exciting new era of growth and a deepening of its mission. Mr. Boyden and his wife, Evelyn, have a young son named Ambrose and are expecting their second child in the next few weeks. Mr. Boyden will finish out the current school year at IMS and will officially begin at RAA in June. In the meantime, you may see him around the school and at upcoming events.? Please join us in welcoming Mr. Boyden to the RAA community and praying for his growing family.

Regina Angelorum, Ora pro nobis!
