Regeneration. What does it mean to you?

The word Regeneration in a community sense is becoming an ever more popular way to describe the benefits of a project.
But what does it mean?
“To regenerate is to bring new and more vigorous life to (an area, industry, institution, etc.); revive, especially in economic terms.”
Its meaning can be interpreted in many different ways but it is important to know the limitations and the extent your willing to go to achieve it.
Companies and organisations may have slightly different views on what they should be doing to include regeneration in a project plan. I think most people will agree, it shouldn't simple end the moment permission is granted.
Our take on it
At Blue Line Security we believe that true regeneration is achievable at every step of a project. It does not simple end the moment a project is approved.

It is no secret that if you employ local people for local projects they will reinvest their salary in to the local area, they may be paying rent to local property owners, council rates, and hopefully, shopping at local independent shops.
From a management point of view, we prefer to have staff work within walking distance of a project/site. It makes it easier for us to resource last minute requests, but also means our staff are not facing long disruptive commutes.
Using local staff on local projects also gives them a sense of ownership and contribution to the community. This is subsequently passed on to family and friends.
In the security world, there are many benefits to using local people. They are more likely to know the area, know the local criminals and are able to recognize any thing unusual.
