Regazz and Nordsol collaborate in helping farmers to produce bio-LNG
Bunnik, December 19th, 2023 – Regazz, a developer of circular biofuel production plants, and Nordsol, bio-LNG technology leader, have announced they will collaborate in the realization of bio-LNG production plants at agricultural sites in Europe. Parties will work closely together to achieve optimized, ready-to-build designs in order to provide farmers with an attractive bio-LNG business case. Regazz has also selected Nordsol to be their exclusive bio-LNG technology supplier.?Regazz uses organic residual flows from the farmer – plant residues and manure – as input for the biogas plants. Besides biogas, these plants also produce digestate, a mineral- and nutrient-rich fertilizer that can be returned to the land of the farmer who 'fed' the biogas plant with his waste.? The Nordsol technology that Regazz will use converts biogas into two products: bio-LNG for long-haul transport and liquid biogenic CO2. The Regazz system is a closed cycle and brings profit for farmers and purpose together.
?
Frans Geerts, founder of Regazz said: “The time for transformative action is now. After a thorough evaluation, we concluded that Nordsol’s integrated solution for biogas upgrading and liquefaction is the best fit for the biofuel projects that we develop with farmers across Europe.”??
?
Thanks to mature and cost-effective technology, onsite biogas liquefaction to bio-LNG has become an attractive valorization route for biogas.??
?
Léon van Bossum, CEO of Nordsol, said: “We’re pleased to collaborate with Regazz in scaling up the production of bio-LNG. Onsite biogas liquefaction to bio-LNG not only accelerates the energy transition in long-haul transport, it also contributes to our mission of fostering a local circular economy and more jobs in rural areas.”?

The commitment of both companies extends beyond technology: it's a decisive move toward a cleaner, sustainable future. They share a common vision of creating local, circular economies that make the best use of waste streams and reduce the use of fossil fuels. To achieve this, they help farmers with their biofuel projects from start to finish, including for example permitting, offtake contracts and certification.
?
“Bio-LNG installations should be co-located with the anaerobic digesters, so they are part of a lean and local ecosystem. We're not just avoiding carbon emissions, we're actively reshaping the narrative of how industries operate, instigating change for a more urgent environmental transformation,” Van Bossum continued.??

By liquefying biogas on site and storing it temporarily, continuous production is guaranteed, regardless of the availability or capacity of a gas network. The bio-LNG will be picked up regularly by road tanker and delivered locally and directly to the nearest LNG filling station or end user.??
?
Important contributors to the circularity of onsite bio-LNG production are the co-products bio-CO2 and biofertilizer. By liquefying and reusing the carbon dioxide from biogas, fossil CO2 emissions are reduced. By displacing regular fertilizers, fabricated using energy-intensive processes, by biofertilizers, these CO2 emissions will decrease even more. This also exemplifies the intersection of where profit meets purpose.?

1 年Curious if you have had any Data Centers want to supply your heat from their operations? It would obviously require co-locating together. Look into the heat values of a Bitminer S19 Pro - then calculate 4,000 of them (which is approx. 20 full size containers) producing heat 24/7..... The GREET models and the ICAO models also come to different "scores" - something that needs to be addressed soon. Steven
