Regaining Control When Life and work are Feeling Out of Hand. 4 things you can do right now!

As working professionals, or if you have unfortunately taken on the role we have all felt searching for a role ( as a full-time job) it can feel like our lives are out of our control at times and that it creates fear frustration, and doubt. It's easy to fall into a fixed mindset, but I did. I blamed a lot, I also learned it's okay to take the time (even though my account said differently) point is, I get it. Truth is, we all have to work together to help be active participants while being kind, reflecting on values, and getting back at it sooner than later. Your work is not your identity and you have immense value, but it's ok to not be ok. Work and family obligations take up a lot of our time and energy, leaving us feeling like we have little agency over our own lives. This can lead to feelings of stress, anxiety, and overwhelming, but the good news is that you have more control than you think. Here are 3 things you can do when everything feels out of your control.

Take a Breath: I say this to clients daily that call me. When life gets complicated or overwhelming, it’s easy to forget to take even a few moments for yourself. Taking a few deep breaths will help slow down your heart rate, clear your head space and let some oxygen into your brain so that you can focus on what needs to be done next. Taking even five minutes to yourself and focusing on your breathing can help you better manage difficult situations in the long run.

Make a List: Making a list is another great way to regain control when everything feels too much. Now is the perfect time to reassess what matters most in your work life and personal life so that you can prioritize accordingly. Making this list helps bring order back into your day-to-day by helping you identify which tasks are the most important and how much time each task requires.

Seek Help: It’s also important to remember that asking for help is not a sign of weakness—it’s actually quite the opposite! No one should have to go through challenging times alone; seeking assistance from friends, family members or colleagues is always encouraged if it will help improve an otherwise difficult situation. You don’t need to figure out everything on your own; there are plenty of people who would be willing to lend an ear or provide advice if asked nicely! Also, just because everyone is seeking healing doesn’t mean your challenges aren’t important.

I continue to learn and will share with you. Life will always have its ups and downs, but with the right strategies in place, it is possible to regain some sense of control when everything feels out of hand. Take a breath, make a list, have a daily routine, and seek help not by complaining but what can I do today to make tomorrow better. One step at a time—by taking these simple steps now, you can stay ahead of any challenges that come your way in the future as well as prevent feelings of being overwhelmed from taking over again!?Working Professionals should use these three tips as part of their self-care routine in order to remain productive despite feeling overwhelmed by all their responsibilities at work and home. Don’t be afraid to take a break.
