Refurbishing Power: GS Project In FL

Recently, our team embarked on a significant project to repair and even refurbish an industrial generator unit at Owens & Minor's facility.

Rust and radiator Issues were the main problems. The generator at Owens & Minor was facing significant rust issues within its enclosure, along with a malfunctioning radiator. To address these problems and ensure the generator's optimal performance, a comprehensive refurbish plan was necessary.

"Good Morning, we are at Owens & Minor," Roy, the technician on-site, began describing the task at hand. "We're going to remove this unit, bring it back to the shop to refurbish the enclosure due to rust issues. We're taking the radiator out to repair it. We're going to have a crane pick this unit up, set it on the trailer, and also put in the rental unit for the time being. Once we get everything finished up, we'll come back, reinstall it, and it’ll be good to go."

The first phase of this project involved careful planning and execution. Roy and Chuck coordinated the logistics, including arranging for a crane to lift the geneset. The team efficiently disconnected the multiquip and prepared it for transportation. The crane arrived on-site and under the expert supervision of Roy and Chuck, safely lifted the unit onto the trailer. The generator was then transported to our shop, where it underwent a thorough refurbishment.

With the refurbish details complete, it was time to return the generator to Owens & Minor. Roy and Chuck, our dedicated technicians who handled the initial removal, were back on-site to ensure a seamless transition.

"We're back at Owens & Minor, ready to reinstall the refurbished generator," Roy explained. "We’ll start by airlifting the unit, then remove the rental genset, and finally place the refurbished unit into place. Everything will be reconnected and tested to ensure it’s running perfectly."

The generator underwent a series of tests to verify its performance after repairs and installation. These tests confirmed that the issues addressed were resolved and that the generator was operating at peak efficiency. The successful completion of this project means Owens & Minor now has a fully functional and reliable generator once again, ready to support their critical operations. The fresh paint job and repaired radiator ensure the unit's longevity and efficiency, providing peace of mind for the client-- not to mention it looks new again.
