REFUGE

We live in a very troubled world. Ongoing wars with unspeakable suffering and starvation, climate change resulting in natural disasters and destruction, cyber-attacks, in addition to our constant exposure to confrontations, insults and personal attacks that sadly have become the norm in a society plagued by sickness and lack of morality.

Do you feel like you want to escape from all this? Do you feel like hiding? Do you want to close your eyes and your ears to shield yourself from all the calamities that surround us??

Is God angry at humanity? Is God displeased with us? Is God chastising us? I do not pretend to know the mind of God, but I would say He is. Why is God angry? Why is He so displeased with us? The answer is sin - personal sin, collective sin and the ripple effects of sin.

Every harsh word we utter, every confrontation, every insult, every lie, every deceitful act - poison our relationships, result in division and lack of peace. Do we want to live in peace and harmony? Then we need to strive for peace and foster a strong desire for harmony and virtuous living.?

Where do we find peace? Jesus is the only source of true peace in the world.?

Who is our refuge? God is our refuge.?

Prayer and silence with God fill our hearts with peace and tame our disordered need for power and control. Prayer softens our hardened hearts and adds sweetness to our words.?

Do we want peaceful hearts? Do we long for peace in our world??

Peace begins with each one of us - in the depth of our heart.?

God is our refuge - our inner refuge.
