Refrigerant Update
ESCO Institute-HVAC Excellence
Setting standards for the HVACR and building science industries.
To help you understand the answers to these questions, we are sharing some videos from our weekly show.?
As the HVACR transitions to A2L Refrigerants which are mildly flammable, some HVACR professionals have concerns.?Jeff Warther, and Don Gillis of Chemours discuss how these refrigerants are not new, and what professionals need to know about them.
In an ideal world ALL recovered refrigerant would be properly separated, identified, and returned to a local collection point to be processed back into AHRI-700 certified product, to then be re-supplied back into the industry. Unfortunately, this is not exactly the case in the field. In this video, Kate Houghton of Hudson Technologies discusses the important of refrigerant reclamation, the Kigali Amendment, and the AIM Act.?
Not only do we have new equipment regulations, new refrigerants, and a push for electrification, we have a phasedown of refrigerants that looks different than our previous transitions. Jason Obrzut and Clifton Beck discuss the history of refrigerants, where we are, where we have been, and where we are going.?
