Refrigerant Recovery Survey

Refrigerant Recovery Survey

The American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act of 2020 requires EPA to phase down the supply of R-410A, R-404A, and other refrigerants. This means that there will be a shortage of these refrigerants, like there was for R-22, as early as 2024. Reclaimed refrigerant was critical to ensure continued supply of refrigerants when new R-22 was no longer manufactured starting in 2010.

AHRI, together with HARDI, PHCC, NATE, ASA, and The ESCO Institute, are surveying contractors, technicians, distributors, and other experts to better understand current refrigerant recovery practices to see if there might be ways to increase the quantity of recovered refrigerant that is upgraded to the AHRI 700 specification so that it can be sold as reclaimed refrigerant before 2024. Your help is needed to help us understand the barriers to the recovery and reclaim of refrigerants in your region.?We would appreciate if you took this survey, and shared it with other HVACR professionals.

There are individual surveys focused on your area of expertise:

For contractors/technicians

For distributors

For reclaimers

?If you have any questions or you’d like to see the summary of the results or participate in other efforts to improve access to reclaimed refrigerant, please contact Faith Patrick ([email protected]), Vivian Cox ([email protected]), or Helen Walter Terrinoni ([email protected]).
