Reframes Open The Door To New Solutions. "What if we..."

Let's talk about reframing.
Recently, I had a chat with a client feeling the weight of content creation. They were drowning in the pressure to create out endless content while staying true to themselves to their brand's essence.
"It's just too much," they said. "I'm overwhelmed by the volume I need to produce."
So, we hit pause to reassess.
First up, I asked, "Who set these content creation standards anyway?" It's a fair question. Sometimes, we place unrealistic expectations on ourselves without questioning their validity.
Next, I delved deeper, "How are you measuring the impact of your branding efforts? What's the ROI on your time and energy?" If we can't measure the impact and value of the effort, it's only a matter of time before we stop.
Then came the game-changer: "What if we viewed content creation as storytelling? Instead of just selling, let's aim to connect authentically with our audience through meaningful stories."
Many of us, especially those juggling sales and marketing roles, grapple with the demands of running a successful business. Trust me, I've been there.
Reframes offer a fresh perspective. They challenge our existing beliefs and open doors to more efficient approaches.
If you're nodding along, here's a simple exercise to try:

Grab a sheet of paper and divide it into three columns. In the first, list your current responsibilities. In the second, detail your current approach. In the third, brainstorm alternative strategies, using the phrase "What If"
For instance:
? Social Media | Spending 10 hours a week with mediocre results | What if we invested 20 hours to elevate social as a cornerstone of our marketing.
? Business Development | Cold calling 20 new leads weekly | What if we reconnected with past clients for valuable referrals.
? Sales Calls | Feel like I'm talking 80% of the conversation | What if we only asked (3) questions and spent the rest of the time listening.
This exercise, passed down by a mentor, has been a game-changer for me. It allows us to look at what we could do, giving a new light to the task itself or if we can't find any better what-if scenarios, is a good indicator that maybe we should it on ice.
The hard part? Taking action. Nothing we can do for ya there, my friend.
What's a reframe that has changed the game in your business? I want to know, place in the comment section below.
If this resonated strongly, and if you need more support, send me a DM and will see how to get you sorted.
Much love,
Ryan

1 年Love the "What if we?" reframe for two reasons: challenges our own mindset and opens the door for others to participate in blue sky thinking (assuming you're saying this out loud). An example that comes to mind is working with a business that's managing revenue during growth and gets into cut, cut, cut mode. Scarcity creeps in. What if we?....invested in strategic expenditure to grow the business vs retreating to a "We can cut our way to success" mindset.
