Reframe Weakness
Dear Essentialists,
We live in a world that assumes strengths and weaknesses are polar opposites on a continuum. But what if that's wrong?
What if your strengths and weaknesses are more like a circle where your greatest weaknesses are, in fact, one click of the dial from becoming your greatest strengths?
In this week's What's Essential episode I talk with Nate Checketts, the CEO of Rhone, and learn how Nate turned something he always thought was a weakness into a strength that has helped him launch a successful company! Listen here.
How can you rapidly turn your weaknesses into strengths?
1) Admit you have a weakness.
You can't turn it into something new if you don't admit it's there in the first place.
2) Look under the surface.
Don't beat yourself up, ever, for your weaknesses. Instead, ask, "What strength is hidden within this weakness that's just out of sight?"
3) Make it your servant.
Weaknesses make poor masters but great servants. Instead of feeling shame about your weaknesses, ask, "How can this weakness be used to serve others?"
Remember: a person who can turn a negative into a positive can never be defeated.
Thank you for reading.
