#ReflectThenElect
We’ve been reflecting on the past year here at Janders Dean, and we’ve decided it might be fun to share a few of our reflections. In doing so, we’ll also nominate a few friends during each post in the hope that you too will share your own personal reflections from 2019, and then also nominate a few members of your own tribe.
We’ve had another amazing year working with our phenomenal friends and clients around the world. We’re grateful to everyone for their support, for their trust, and for their friendship.
For me personally, the year was marked by an unexpected illness and hospitalisation that resulted in me missing two of my most favourite dates of the year - the #JDHorizons events in both London and Sydney.
These two milestone events have been providing our clients with unique perspectives for a number of years, and we believe that they have (through the diverse speaking faculty and the initiatives we launch or support at these event) helped shape various aspects of the market.
Irrespective of the impact that may have, they are important to me personally as they bring all Janders Dean’s team members and friends from across the globe together to celebrate each other’s achievements. The events are indeed exhausting - mainly because of the smiling, laughing, and hugging that happens.
Those who know me well, well know the pain that came with not being able to attend #JDHorizons, and the frustration at being forced to watch them unfold via social media in a hospital ward.
As I reflect on the year then, my main message is one of gratitude - gratitude for the presence and support of a beloved family and for genuine friendships around the world, gratitude for health (and for the knowledge of its fragility), gratitude for an amazing JDHQ team who not only deliver major successes with our clients, but who also stepped in and stepped up all year, and finally, gratitude for the support of our amazing global community.
I wish you and your families an amazing festive break full of adventure (and yes, also some well-deserved boredom), and I thank you for being in my world - for that, I am grateful.

5 年Thank you Justin North. What a year this has been... If I had to choose one word to summarise 2019 it would be “resilience”. Resilience and the values sitting behind it: (i) our ability to make realistic plans and being capable of taking the steps necessary to follow through with them; (ii) confidence in our strengths and abilities; (iii) the crucial role of communication and problem-solving skills; and (iv) our ability to manage strong impulses and feelings. And for 2020, I would select “kindness”. I nominate Scott Cochrane, Alex G Smith, Nir Golan, and Gregory Louvel #ReflectThenElect #BringOn2020
On reflection of this reflection...I would love to hear from the two people who inspired our network the most this year -?Amika George?and Darshita Gillies?- on their own personal 2019 reflections.? We can't thank you enough for doing what you do, and for both sharing like you have with us (and our friends) this year. Both true inspirations.?

Have loved getting to follow all the inspiration you and the JD team and community sprinkle like fairy dust.? Am always hoping a bit lands on me...? Please keep challenging our industry as we have the talent and the opportunities to really accelerate our pace of change for the better - we just need catalyzing and that's what you do!? with warmest wishes for the holidays, Tamara Box

5 年So very true Justin North - knowing how fragile health is gives you a very different perspective. What a brilliant year! Being part of the Sydney JD event was an absolute highlight of the year for me.
