Reflective Viewpoint of an Independent

The current political climate is one of distrust between government and people the latter is stunned into incomprehension by the manipulative machinations of their representative whose loyalty lies within their personal self-interest. In reactance, the people selects the better deal offered them with no guarantee of its compliance resulting in abusive government practices against them. What to do? Partisan bickering does not mitigate their plight, switching votes to keep one party in power is detrimental for stable policy experience, therefore, all responsibilities to themselves rest with the people. People must seek to inform themselves of the parties’ agenda, be active citizens by devoting some of their time to educate themselves through various media of current government actions that affect them. If this course is not taken, the current climate will prevail far into the future with dire consequences for human life and the planet.

These words should be engraved in the mind of every man or woman who would profit by this change:

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

 Also, to realize that no single party owns a singular interpretation of our Constitution and that unless at every turn compromises are made these words will have no effect on holding together our Union. What divides us is our stubborn sense of guarding our opinions and turning them into an ideology of interests with no evidence from an Absolute Authority as to their rightfulness, but we insist ours is true and tested.

Know yourself well is in this context to realize that there always has to be coexistence with the other without which the self cannot be maintained. This extends to society and the representative government chosen for the various interests. For example, any leader whose value promotion is to remind us of other's actions for excusing current perceptions of his non-performance should be seen as self-serving and really not focus on the people’s urgent business, another word good governance is not being maintained. This should prompt the people to seek action in coexistence and not in zero-sum confrontation.

Remember and educated populace is a far more potent than an army to guarantee the common welfare for all.
