Reflections of a Work Anniversary
I know that I’m a couple of weeks late now, but July 31st marked my 4th anniversary working at Start.ca. What started out as a 'filler' desk job while I recovered from my ACL injury, quickly turned into the greatest job I've ever had. Thank you to all of who you reached out here on LinkedIn to congratulate me; I really appreciate it!
I've made a lot of new friends here, and have been given the chance to work with a lot of very cool London businesses, some of which I didn't even know existed in town, but are major international players or contributors to a better world in one form or another.
I've seen the exponential growth from about 40 employees crammed into a pretty small office when I first started, to the 160'ish we have now. I've been a part of not one but TWO office moves, and couldn’t be more excited for the third. The rapid expansion of the fibre infrastructure (and new state-of-the-art data centre opening this month!) has been a huge support to local businesses in all sectors, and has helped support even more growth for the company.
And, of course, I met my absolutely incredible finacée as a result of my employment here (a story for another time (and one I love to share), but she works for another quickly growing, local business too!), for which I will be eternally grateful <3
The path that my life has taken since starting here 4 years ago is DRASTICALLY different than what I pictured it would; I even told Al in my interview that I planned to leave after 2-3 years, but I couldn't be more thankful for all of the support I’ve been given over the years to grow, both professionally and personally. Pete and Darryl are doing things right in so many different ways, and I have no doubt they will change many more lives as the company continues to grow.
I don't know what the future holds for me personally, but I am excited and hopeful that I have many more anniversary’s to celebrate right here.
:)
