Reflections on Presidents’ Day Weekend 2020 …

Happy Presidents’ Day Weekend!

We hope our brief reflection finds you well.

Marile and I join you and our fellow Americans in observing Presidents’ Day.

We salute the leadership, dedication and sacrifice of all those who have held America’s highest elected office.

We especially commemorate the exceptional legacies of Presidents Washington and Lincoln — both led our country during extremely challenging periods.

In turn, each in his own time shaped our nation into the pillar of democracy, liberty and justice for all — we so enjoy today.

Marile, the kids and I said a special prayer today, for all in public service — federal, state, and local.

We recognize and appreciate their personal sacrifice and dedication that helps to ensure that our values are well represented and protected.

“We asked for the Lord’s protection and guidance for all who devote themselves to the common good, working for justice and peace at home and around the world.”

May the Lord watch over, protect and bless these United States of America with great leaders equal to the challenges of their distinguished office, and may our nation never lose sight of the accomplishments of presidents past.

Finally, we pray —

“Heal us from our differences and unite us, O Lord,

with a common purpose, dedication, and commitment to achieve liberty and justice in the years ahead for all people, and especially those who are most vulnerable in our midst. Amen.“

In observation of Presidents’ Day and our beloved Coconut Grove Arts Festival which will result in street closures around our Law Offices, we will be closed starting 5pm on Friday, Feb. 14. We will reopen with regular business hours on Tuesday, February 18.
