Reflections - one year on

Reflections - one year on

Gave myself 10 minutes to write 10 reflections - short version for here, and in no particular order!

1. Prioritise & plan

Prioritise prioritising. Do the important things first, and get started as soon as possible. Planning helps with efficiency.

2. Get clarity

Clarity on why, how and what keeps everyone productive, and at the same time accountable. If things aren't clear, ask for absolute clarity.

3. Change is challenging

Stepping into a new world is hard. You have to learn, quickly.

4. Write down thoughts

No matter how bizarre the idea feels, write it down. Always surprising how often something on a piece of paper will snowball into something bigger.

5. Department dynamic is priceless

Undeniable the value a department adds. Fortunate to work in a unique department that is made up of brilliant people, who I feel I can trust, challenge, and also be challenged.

6. There are many ways - open your mind

The more I see, the less I know, but the more I think.

7. Lessons from different sport

Different sports / teams / organisations have 'languages', or have certain 'accents'. Dialect matters.

8. Reflect often

Time to myself after a meeting, day, tournament or even just on a commute have been invaluable for my thinking and headspace.

9. Remember those who help you

Family, friends, former colleagues and mentors. The good ones stay connected. Very lucky to have some amazing colleagues that I still stay in touch with.

10. Reach out and speak

Take something from every conversation.

I have plenty of other reflections that aren't written in this, and have tried to be concise here to be strict on 10 minutes!
