Reflections on the Impact of Queen Elizabeth II

Growing up in New Zealand, we eagerly followed the royal family.
By creating scrapbooks of our favorite family members and memorable events, debating their fashion choices, and even choosing what we would name our children if we married a prince, the royal family was so much more than just public figures. Their grace and charm yielded them approachable and aspirational, while their power commanded a respect from even those who weren’t under their rule.
What I love about the royal family is that they represent hope and love, celebrate and learn from the past, and lean into a meaningful future. I was saddened to hear of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, a woman that led with courage and a steady and reassuring presence.
In her honor, let’s remember one lesson this 96-year-old lady taught us: the power of a simple walk. Walking was the constant source of physical activity for Queen Elizabeth II. When at Buckingham Palace, every afternoon around 2:30 she would go for a long walk around the gardens with her corgis. Out in the country, she would walk through moorlands and woods.

Her passing also causes me to reflect on her ability to lead and unite an entire country. I often think of her quote, “I know of no single formula for success. But over the years I have observed that some attributes of leadership are universal and are often about finding ways of encouraging people to combine their efforts, their talents, their insights, their enthusiasm, and their inspiration to work together.” As a leader, these words serve as a reminder to empower my team and steer them in a direction that allows us to create a better future for more people.
In the days ahead, lets walk like a queen and lean into a meaningful future for the health of ourselves, our families, and our community.
Your reflection on the royal family's influence and Queen Elizabeth II's dedication to simplicity and leadership is incredibly moving ??. It reminds me of what Steve Jobs once said - Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. Let's stride forward not just in our walks but in our aspirations and actions, uniting and inspiring those around us for a better future??♀???. #walklikeaqueen #betterfuture #leadershipinspiration
