Reflections on a hazy era

Reflections on a hazy era

Do you ever try to recall something from the past 3 years and can't recall when it actually happened? The pandemic years have kind of blurred into one chunk of existence . . . for me anyway.

It's hard to pinpoint actual dates or times of specific activities, but generally, I recall doing lots of good things. Learning about (and upgrading) my technology, getting used to zooms, teams and any other platform that was thrown at me, spending time with my hubby, making left-overs last, doing jigsaws, long walks with my pooch and feeling like I had plenty of time to sit outside with a book and a cuppa.

Now that we are back to "normal" how much of the good stuff from back then have you carried forward? Or, have we just gone back to being as busy as ever?

I remember a manager saying to me in the middle of one of the Victorian lockdowns that . . . "I always thought I was a present father, until I was home every day and realised that I hadn't been present at all. I'm never going back to the old way. I want to be home every afternoon so I can see my kids grow up, have meals and spend time with them."

I wonder if he maintained that. ??

It's crazy to think that it's been three years since the early days of the pandemic and yet sometimes I miss the pace, the peace and the presence of those times. What do you miss? (or not).

recently, over the weekend and school holidays, we had a burst of great weather in Melbourne. I saw heaps of people riding bikes, going for walks and getting together on a picnic rug in parks or by the bay. I was so happy to see this! BC (before covid) this wasn't so common, outside of summer, and definitely not on saturdays. or maybe i'm imagining it.
