Reflections from Southampton

There's something about staying in a hotel room in SouthHampton, Long Island that always puts me in a reflective mood. I visit once a month for work, and while the change of scenery is refreshing, it serves as a reminder that my purpose here goes beyond just a job. I'm here to collaborate, to share best practices, and sometimes I get to invite colleagues who I don't see often but whom I have a strong history with.
We exchange ideas, we push each other further. There’s a quiet trust that’s developed over time—something instinctual. Sometimes the most valuable collaborators are those whose opinions once clashed with yours, but that’s exactly why you need them. They get your rhythm, you get theirs, and having different perspectives makes a big difference.
It’s not all serious, though. There’s laughter, light moments between tasks that show it’s possible to get things done without the weight of pressure. But beneath it all, the work is getting done, and getting done well, because the team moves in sync.
So yeah, I’m here for purpose, but really, I’m here for them. That’s what makes the whole experience more than just work.
