Reflections from Crunchmoms Summit 2023

I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible experience that was the Crunchmoms Summit 2023 and share some personal learnings and takeaways that have left a profound impact on me.

Creating a genuine community and network for women, parents, and professionals is no small feat. It requires unwavering compassion, selfless dedication, and consistent drive & motivation. When people ask me how I feel after the Summit, I find it hard to put into words. Part of me is filled with energy, inspiration, and deep emotions, moved by the remarkable talks, the amazing feedback from our attendees, the kind words of support and the beautiful team work. The other part of me is exhausted, already pondering what comes next, and how we can continue to be there to support, inspire, and nurture a community that genuinely contributes to society.

Here are my key takeaways and learnings from Crunchmoms Summit 2023:

• The Growth Mindset: The concept of a growth mindset was organically trending throughout the Summit. The more we invest in our wellbeing and personal growth, the better equipped we are to be well-rounded, compassionate, and supportive individuals for our families, children, friends, and colleagues.
• True diversity: One crucial aspect that stood out during the Crunchmoms Summit 2023 was the vital importance of having more dads and men actively participating in these discussions. While our focus has always been on supporting women, we also recognize the impact that fathers and men can have on the journey towards gender equality and a more inclusive society. Their perspectives, experiences, and support are invaluable in creating a more balanced and empathetic world.
• Self-Prioritization: The importance of putting oneself first resonated deeply with many of our speakers. Financial independence, continuous education, and looking after one's health and wellbeing are not selfish acts; they are transformative steps, especially for women in the midst of a midlife transformation.
• Building a Village: The Summit highlighted the importance of a supportive community on your own terms. Whether it's online or in person, let's come together and continue to build and grow this village at Crunchmoms for our region. It's through true collaboration and solidarity that we can make a difference. It's not just about what one can get; it's about what you can give back.

Above all, one of the most important takeaways from the Summit for me is that we are all going through life's ups and downs. The message is clear –?’Just be real’. Whether it's with our children, at home and work, as women, or as human beings, embracing authenticity is the key.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to the dedicated dream people in the team that I am privileged to have as a co-founder and founding team: Liying Tay , Vineetha Menon Ephgrave , and Aalia Thobani and organizing support from Harsha Raney , Benazir Kaiser , Selina Bieber and husbands Yi-Wei Ang and Faisal Khan . Without their endless support and alignment, I'm not certain how Crunchmoms would be sustainable. I also personally want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Visa and Wio Bank for their commitment to empowering women in the region.
