As I dive deeper into the "From Academia to Entrepreneurship: Personal Pathways" project, interviewing academics who’ve ventured into side hustles or entrepreneurial paths, one thing is clear:
Each academic journey is a unique, personal pathway, shaped by individual passions, goals, and the courage to explore uncharted territory.
A recurring theme is that those who step out of their comfort zones, challenge themselves, and bring new ideas to life rarely have regrets. While not everyone feels called to become an entrepreneur, those who follow their passions often wish they’d started sooner.
I’m not suggesting that every academic needs a side hustle or business, but I am inspired by the value of following what truly excites us, even if that means approaching our current roles with a fresh perspective. You see, passion can take many forms:
Whatever form your passion takes, my advice is simple:
Give your passion a try. Ask yourself, what’s the worst that could happen?
