Reflections from 2021
Many of you would have read?great line from Mr. Ratan Tata, “I don’t believe in taking right decisions, I take decisions, then make them right.”. As we get to celebrate a great year and welcome a better one, following are some reflections from 2021.
Starting this year, I had the opportunity to take an important decision. Mixed perspectives were coming in from friends, colleagues, mentors, family and customers. It was not straight forward to accept a new responsibility during COVID. However something in me pushed me towards it. Looking back I think it was belief in my then Manager / Coach, Anjali Mirchandani.
Some reflections from 2021 :
Purpose : Make sure that you remember the reason / purpose for making any decision. It will help you to stay aligned, motivated and set clear vision / strategy to make it possible.
Accountable : Be accountable! You will tend to miss task / actions / milestones / targets and that is reality, however what matters is how well prepared are you to come out of it? Having the foresight towards the same and an approach to recover quickly helps.
Team Work : Nothing is possible without team work. Be grateful to people and empathize more often, it goes long way.
Clarity : Establish clarity on smallest of the things possible. This will help have more hands on the deck towards achieving milestones and the ultimate goal.
Honest : Be honest to yourself and establish transparent messaging. It is best to have bad news come early so that you can work on a plan towards course correction.
Thank You to each and every one in my network to be around in this year. Happy New Year in advance!
