Reflections From 1 Year in a Truly Global Role

Reflections From 1 Year in a Truly Global Role

???Reflections from my first year as the Chief of Staff to a Group Client Partner:

As I work with a client that has a global footprint, my role transcends borders. While most of my team and direct connections are rooted in France, my work spans Europe, UK, APAC, the Americas—touching five out of seven continents across different time zones. Recently, I hosted a hybrid growth planning workshop that aimed to blend in-person and virtual participation alike.

Being physically near the team provided invaluable insights. I document them as key notes to remember below:

Embrace Learning: Life is a continuous journey of growth. Failures are stepping stones; learn from them and keep moving forward.

Ownership Mindset: Don't mind your own business. Mind the business as your own. Always ask “why” and seek deeper understanding.

Surrounding Influence: Being around exceptional individuals always inspires. Their struggles teach us resilience, and their successes snowballs ambition.

Humility: Reminder - Keep your head down, focus on your work, and let your results speak for themselves. Authentic visibility comes from merit.

Potential has no limits: Nothing is beyond your reach. Pour your mind, body, heart and soul into your endeavors, and watch the surprising outcomes unfold.

Learn Continuously: Listen twice as much as you speak. Curiosity fuels growth, and there’s always more to discover.

Smile! Infectious smiles bridge gaps. They strengthen bonds and open doors.

Embrace Each Day: Some days overflow with tasks, while others are quieter. Find beauty in both—the ebb and flow of life.

Wander Widely: Travel as if the world eagerly awaits your arrival. Every place is an extended family, waiting to host you. Immerse yourself into the experience.

Authenticity Matters: Accept praise with humility, and seek feedback proactively. Stay true to yourself.

While I have struggled to consistently write something professionally personal stories over the last few years, I would like to restart writing as it serves the purpose of "Notes from the Past Self to the Future Self" being captured in the present :)

Here’s to continuous learning, meaningful connections, and the joy of making each day count. ???
