This past year as a CAS Coordinator has been a whirlwind of experiences. It's a constant dance between monitoring student progress, keeping the program's momentum alive, and witnessing the incredible growth it fosters.
Sure, there are moments of frustration when student engagement dips or reflections feel like a chore. But those moments are eclipsed by the enriching discoveries students make through CAS. Witnessing their reflections blossom from documenting activities to insightful connections with their own growth is a privilege.
One of the biggest challenges is keeping the program interactive. It's easy for CAS to feel like a box-checking exercise. This year, I've been reflecting on how to create a more engaging experience. Incorporating interactive workshops or fostering peer-to-peer reflection sessions could spark a deeper connection to the program's core values.
The most important reminder for the students and me is that CAS is about intrinsic growth. It's not just a graduation requirement but a chance to explore their passions, contribute to the community, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves. Encouraging students to document their experiences isn't just about verification; it's about allowing them to see their journey unfold.
As I look forward to the next year, I'm filled with a sense of purpose. The role of a CAS Coordinator may be demanding, but the impact on these young minds is undeniable. By fostering a more interactive and meaningful experience, I hope to see even more students embrace the transformative power of CAS.
