Reflections on five years

Team,

This week marks my fifth anniversary with GE. Looking back on the steps we have taken as a company during this time – both big and small – I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished together. While our work is never done, we have made incredible progress transforming GE into a more focused company that is delivering results for our customers, shareholders, and each other.

As I think about the past five years, five things stand out that have been – and will continue to be – vital to our progress.?

1)?Commitment to our customers. “What can we do to better serve our customers?” We have built tremendous customer partnerships over the past 132 years that we look forward to continuing for many years to come. We are always better when we put ourselves in our customers’ shoes and measure our work through their eyes.

2)?Passionate team. The GE team is special. This year I have been fortunate to visit a number of our GE sites around the world – from St. Nazaire, France with the GE Vernova team earlier this year to my visit last week with the Avio Aero team in Turino, Italy. I always walk away from these trips with a renewed sense of pride in our people and optimism for our future. As U.S. General Colin Powell so famously wrote, “Endeavors succeed or fail because of the people involved. Only by attracting the best people will you accomplish great deeds.”

3)?Motivated by our missions. We are building a world that works. Your passion and belief in each business’ purpose inspires me every day. At GE Aerospace, we invent the future of flight, lift people up and bring them home safely. And at GE Vernova, we have the energy to change the world. This work matters and we must never lose sight of the importance of these missions. Our new TV commercial beautifully captures the infinite possibilities of GE’s next chapter. ??? ??

4)?Mindset matters. For the past five years we have been building a culture of continuous improvement... getting better every day. During our recent Lean Mindset event, I spoke with psychologist and author Carol Dweck about the power of a “growth mindset” to unlock potential and opportunity. Carol said, “You try something, it doesn't work, and maybe people even criticize you. In a fixed mindset, you say, 'I tried this, it's over.' In a growth mindset, you look for what you've learned.”? Learning is foundational to our lean transformation and grounded in our leadership behaviors of transparency, humility, and focus. ?

5)?Focus takes us further. As a simpler and more focused company, we are closer to our customers than ever before and better positioned to deliver for them. Our plans to launch GE Vernova and GE Aerospace as independent companies sometime in early 2024 will only bring greater focus to our teams and enhance our ability to deliver. ????

It has been the honor of my career to be on this journey with you. It’s been a remarkable five years. I am proud of what we have accomplished and even more excited for what’s ahead of us. ?
