Reflections on Electranet's 2022

What an extraordinary year 2022 has been, our security environment has been turned on its head by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the ramifications of this have resulted in the UK being in the middle of the most severe economic crisis that many of us will remember.?

Christmas is a time of reflection and against this rather gloomy backdrop I wanted to take the opportunity to indulge by sharing the journey that Electranet has been on, the external headwinds it has navigated and the excellent people that are our potential and will create our future success.

This year we have re-built and re-branded our business, to work as one team, streamlining the legal entities, people and processes. We now have stronger governance, risk and assurance oversight and are better connected into our stakeholders in the Defence and Security networks - with strengthened customer value propositions.

These new processes required a scale of change that at times has felt exhausting, relentless and frustrating. I know the Electranet team across the country has delivered quality work under these pressures of change - they have demonstrated a resilience and an openness that has been key to its success.

The outcome is something I’m incredibly proud of and we’re ending the year in a much better place than where we started.?We have been able to grow the business by 60% and this has been made possible by the awe inspiring dedication of our teams and the renewed belief in what we represent and do – Thank You!?

It is important to share some of the highlights, in numbers, they reflect the scale of our achievements.?We have provided security vetting services to over 4400 colleagues and customers and are the first business in the UK to be accredited to conduct Digital ID Verification, speeding up the process and experience significantly.?We have delivered Defence’s ‘Digital Backbone’, the teams installed infrastructure in to 480 buildings across 15 MOD sites in 3 months, laying approximately 156 kms of fibre and 107 kms of cabling and installing 4000 WiFi access points, 500 cabinets and 500 switches.?We have installed CCTV security systems and control rooms, with their associated cabling in to one of the UK’s front line RAF bases and have installed radar enabled CCTV in to Capita’s fire service college.?By training and employing more ‘Highways Electrical Registration Scheme’ (HERS) accredited engineers than any other company in the UK we have been able to support Transport for London, migrating 3650 of their networks and supporting 10,700 site visits or escorts.?

Yet, we are so much more than numbers, we are a business that relies on the skills and energy of our people. This year I’m most proud of our increased focus on recognition; we established the ‘Electranet Heroes’ scheme, recognising 20 of our colleagues for going above and beyond. Electranet was also the first sponsor of Capita’s Black Employee Network annual awards ceremony during Black History Month. ?I was delighted to present the first award and I am committed to championing diversity and inclusion at Electranet and Capita.

?It has been quite a year and there is lots to celebrate.??We are a business that I am proud of and the combination of a people-focused senior leadership and energised delivery teams is making a huge impact in the operational delivery for our clients. Next year, we will continue the focus on our people, build on the numbers, and delight our clients as we grow into a stronger and more successful organisation.?I love it and I’m already excited by what 2023 has in store!!
