Reflections On "Doing Me" in Business

Reflections On "Doing Me" in Business

I’ve been preaching Honest Marketing for a while.

At the core of it, it’s about being honest with ourselves. Having the courage to dig deep and stand for something meaningful to you.

When you’re honest with yourself, you’re in alignment with your Truth.

You say what you need to say and do what you’ve gotta to do.

I’ve done a lot of work on overcoming fears. A lot of self-talk and analysis and whatnot. And I appreciate the intellectual ability to recognize, witness, and verbalize fears.

Yet, the visceral knowing came when I realized that…

Honesty may be the best antidote to fears.

Being honest with myself. Stop feeding myself some BS in the name of “protecting” what I consider to be fragile in me (which, turns out to be the strongest part because it dares to be naked.)

Pretense falls away from communications. You don’t spend energy on leading everyone in circles just because you’re chickenshit and afraid of admitting your Truth.

You only die once. What do you want today, now, this very moment… is what you’ve got.

If I’m going to be completely honest with myself, I can only know what I really want right here right now, not 20 minutes from now and not 2 years from now.

What’s going to create the most meaning for you at this moment in time? This is the best you can do.

***

My logical mind and my intuition are sometimes at odds. I’ve learned to witness the head-heart dialogue and let it run its course.

Because my head wants to be heard. But at the end, the heart goes where the heart wants to go. And it always wins.

Following the heart and trusting the calm brings an energy into work and life that helps you dial into alignment.

Resolving the internal conflict gives you the clean energy that makes you magnetic. It gives you the compass to choose the right expression for your message instead of chasing bright shiny objects.

I tell my head: dude, that’s where we’re going with this. You’ve just gotta catch on. (And have confidence in myself that I’ll be able to figure things out intellectually.)

Without the sense of calm and alignment, you can’t develop total confidence. Without the confidence, you can’t do (and deliver) good work.

#SorryNotSorry.

I do ME, you do YOU.

Stop apologizing for making a choice that stands for more life, more living, more meaning.

Turn coulda shoulda into the mental space you need to see the possibilities.
