Reflections on CoSci 2025 + An Exciting Announcement

Greetings,

We’re still energized from this past weekend’s CoSci 2025 event in Las Vegas—a powerful gathering that brought together citizen scientists, researchers, and leading voices in health and nutrition. Hosted by Dave Feldman as a fundraiser for the Citizen Science Foundation, this conference is a testament to the impact of teamwork and independent research.

One of the most inspiring aspects of this event is its core philosophy: We don’t have to wait for institutional research to explore pressing health questions. While rigorous clinical trials remain essential, the slow pace of traditional research can leave patients without timely solutions. Events like CoSci remind us that innovation can happen outside traditional systems.

A perfect example of this mindset is Dave’s groundbreaking work exploring the impact of high LDL cholesterol on heart health in individuals using ketogenic therapies. Through crowdfunding, he has helped challenge long-standing medical assumptions—shedding light on one of the key concerns preventing broader adoption of ketogenic metabolic interventions.

The conference kicked off Friday night with a private screening of The Cholesterol Code, a documentary supported by Baszucki Group that chronicles Dave’s research journey. The film sparked laughter, tears, deep discussions, and, most importantly, hope that these discoveries will reach the people who need it most.

Throughout the weekend, thought leaders such as Dr. Dominic D’Agostino, Dr. Ken Berry, and Dr. Jaime Seeman delivered compelling talks on the relationship between metabolism and chronic disease. The event also featured thought-provoking debates on topics like statin medications, the environmental impact of animal agriculture, and the evolving understanding of the role LDL cholesterol plays in human health.

This weekend also gave us an opportunity to conduct some fireside interviews with a few of the guest speakers as well as members of our THINK+SMART Experts by Experience community. Be on the lookout for those interviews dropping on our YouTube channel soon!

Events like CoSci 2025 are an incredible opportunity to bring our community together to share our learnings and reinforce a crucial lesson: Science is always changing, talking openly about ideas helps us move forward, and we should always follow the science.
