Reflections

Before we close out for the well-deserved holidays, I wanted to share a brief blog post to wrap up the year.?I’ve been reflecting on the highs and lows of 2023 and my first year as CEO of Alder Renewables—it was a truly wild ride.?

We got through the headwinds, we forged partnerships, we tested our pathways, and we secured vital investment. We significantly advanced our technology, built an incredible Alder Renewables Board and governance model, sharpened our commercial focus, and we rebranded for the future.

We created the first ever life cycle carbon negative and 100% drop-in SAF with miscanthus, and we continue to have the support of some of the most successful companies in our sector, including Boeing, United, Honeywell UOP, 4Air, and Avfuel.?

To our friends, supporters, and the wider Alder Renewables ecosystem: thank you. You have all played an instrumental role in our development, our reboot, and our current growth trajectory. To each member of the team that was willing to trust each other and me, you are exceptional people. This leap of faith is the reason Alder Renewables is moving forward.?

While I can never guarantee that there won’t be more highs and lows (after all, that’s part of the start-up adventure), I can promise that 2024 will be the year the company invests further in its operations. We will move to our own lab facility, build out the team in key strategic areas, develop and expand our IP portfolio, invest in our culture, advance the public discussion around decarbonization and the most compelling technologies, and, most importantly, scale what we believe is one of the most significant pathways in the marketplace right now. As the sun sets on COP28 and we reflect on ever more visceral examples of the human impact on our climate, we must recognize—once again—that we simply have no time to waste.??

We will, I’m sure, face new challenges and bigger opportunities, and we’ll embrace them alongside our investors, our board, and our public and private supporters, particularly the tireless folks at DOE. Thank you to all of you for motivating me when times were tough and for sticking with this bold and ambitious mission of ours. The Alder Renewables team will be back in the new year refreshed, revitalized, and ready to kick into the next gear throughout 2024.??

My very best to everyone at Alder Renewables, our friends, and our many supporters—happy holidays.??

Tim?
