Reflections on AI and Life – a Podcast with Iternal Technologies

It was a lot of fun to brainstorm on AI, technology, and life, in general, with John Byron Hanby, IV V and Ethan Wood today. A lot of insights, new ideas and a few laughs.

Here are a few of the areas we touched on. More in our podcast.

AI will play a major role in improving society – think of it this way. India has one oncologist for every 1MM people. The U.S. has 161. The only way to bridge this gap is via AI.

AI is the secret to change management – if a climate change study does not work, share its results immediately with all related parties worldwide. Do the same if it works. We can then stop programs with little chance to succeed, reallocate resources to ones that will be effective and accelerate our ability to learn as a planet. Or we can just keep meandering at the same slow pace.

The less sexy parts of AI are also the foundation of AI -- how we manage and govern our data will drive future success of apps. The future cloud infrastructure will be built for AI. Make time to learn about the areas that are not as exciting. ?

The gaming experience gets a lot closer to real-life via AI -- companies are experimenting with how to predict multiple frames in advance, so based on the activity of a gamer, it picks the next logical frame. Imagine when technology allows us to go from 12-18 frames today to sixty frames per second in the future. It will be like you are navigating real-life virtually.

AI will lead to a creative explosion in film and music – any reason we would not create our own movies in the future? Sounds nuts today, but is it? Or why wouldn’t Kid Rock and Luke Combs agree to put their music in a special folder and allow us to create new songs/mixes with a royalty going back to each of them? Future creators will expect to be part of the solution, not just order popcorn and an extra-large coke.

We need to address “data pollution” – we all believe it is unacceptable for anyone to put raw sewage into a river. We protect our water and air. It is why we have the EPA. In the digital world, we have drug dealers, counterfeiters, scam artists, hackers, human traffickers, and all kinds of bad actors spewing pollution into our brains, raiding our bank accounts, and leading us to bad choices.? This is “data pollution” and it deserves a stronger solution.

The next billion-dollar idea is right in front of us – the best ideas are often pretty simple. Our job is to identify these use cases. You do not have to be a technology genius, just creative and clever.

If Jeff Bezos asked me how to change the newsroom – I would say “Jeff, we need a new economic model for journalists. When you make future hires, remind them that the audience is their world. No limits. If they can share information in unique ways via social media, gaming and other platforms and generate revenue, let them keep half of it.”? New times, new models.

Advice for all of us, especially the next generation – Humans should drive AI. If we let AI drive us, we will just get dumber and less sensitive. Get in front of it, do not sit there and watch it. Help AI improve our world

Looking forward to our next conversation! ?
