Reflections on 2021
Phew - 2021 is coming to an end.
I think like many, I expected this year to be a ray of sunshine compared to the wall-to-wall !#%&-fest that was 2020 - but instead it felt more like finding out the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train speeding towards you...CHOO CHOO
As I try to wrap up the final preparations before heading off on a much needed (and dare I say well earned?) holiday with friends and family back home in Denmark, I think back on the 2 craziest, most tumultuous and challenging years I have experienced since joining SBC about 5 1/2 years ago.
The sensation I am left with is neither frustration or anger however, but rather an overwhelming feeling of pride and gratitude.
Hopefully by sharing some of my reasons to be thankful and proud, others might be able to find their positives - or at least get a cheap laugh at my sentimentality :)
Firstly I am grateful that my family and friends have all remained relatively unscathed by the pandemic - I know not everyone has been that lucky.
Thankfully hairdressers and barbers did open intermittently! I will admit to have rocked a look at times, somewhere between an 80’s glam rock artist and a Paleolithic period cavemen more fit to hunt mammoths around 10,000 B.C. than work in marketing.

I have a genuine appreciation for the support, engagement and patience the betting and igaming industry has shown SBC and other event companies through this challenging period - it felt pretty special seeing people embrace SBC Summit Barcelona as the first bigger scale event in months, back in September.
3 words: “working in sweatpants”.
A big one for me this year, is that I am so proud of and grateful for all for my amazing colleagues and dear friends at SBC with whom I have spent these past 20 months “in the trenches”.
A heartfelt thanks to you all! For being the coolest, most resilient and persevering bunch I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Constantly supporting and helping each other, going above and beyond on late nights, weekends and early mornings. Your loyalty and dedication is inspiring and I am happy to go through hell and back with everyone of you as many times as we have to!
I wish everyone in my network a happy holiday season, that I hope you get to spend surrounded by family and loved ones. I look forward to seeing you in the new year.
Merry X-mas!
