Reflections on the 2019 Kingdom Advisors conference

Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in the annual Kingdom Advisors conference. Kingdom Advisors is dedicated to helping Christian financial advisors understand how to apply their faith to their practice of financial advice. They are the largest network of Christian financial advisors in the US, and their annual conference has grown to become the largest gathering of its kind. This was my 11th straight year attending the conference, and Eventide has been a sponsor for the past 10 years. It's been amazing to see how much the conference has grown over this time – from about 200 attendees my first year to over 1400 attendees this year.

For me, attending the conference is not just a refreshing spiritual experience, or an opportunity to hear from leading Christian teachers each year; it is an opportunity for me to reconnect with some of the most wonderful people that I have been able to meet over the past 10 years, as well as to network with others and start new relationships. Many of the most faithful and generous people I know attend this conference, and I am privileged to serve them through Eventide. Eventide's purpose statement says, "Eventide strives to honor God and serve its clients by investing in companies that create compelling value for the global common good." I stand by that statement with all of my heart. My love for the people I have met through Eventide will outlast my time at Eventide and I believe will continue on into eternity.

This year, I had the privilege of seeing my Eventide colleague Jeff Cave honored with the Larry Burkett award. Larry Burkett was a person who in many ways formed the modern practice of Christian financial advice. The Larry Burkett Award is the highest recognition that Kingdom Advisors presents to one of its members each year. Each year, this award is given to an individual who models the integrity, professionalism, and service exemplified by Larry Burkett's life and work. Jeff’s life and career has been marked by his Christian faith, and I was extremely proud to see him receive this award.
