Reflection & Vision
2020 marks 35 years in the Security Industry for me. Seems impossible in some ways that three and a half DECADES have passed since my old professor told me that a security job would be perfect while I was in school because I could work at night fairly unbothered and study the calculus I was struggling with for my computer engineering course. Things certainly took an interesting turn! Less than a year later, at the ripe old age of 19 I became an operations manager for the first time.
During that time I was also in charge of a 5 man tactical response team for high profile events like the international diamond show. Good times!
For me, 2020 also marks a year for clearer vision in business. A sharper focus on areas that I have become very passionate about. Services that I intend to expand greatly on during the next 12 months and engage clients in new ways with. I feel that 2020 will be a year to truly give back, not just to my local community but to new friends, business partners and clients far and wide. I hope that for each of you, these things hold true. It seems 2019 was a really rough year for many and my hope is to leave that in the past and help anyone I can in moving forward on THEIR path and with THEIR journey in doing so. We are all in this together, regardless of our industries or our end goals. In this new year let's all strive to lift one another up, to be the helping hand that touches a life. That changes a perspective. That brings a peace and joy to someone that may never show they need it. Lets work together to fight things like #ChildTrafficking and prevent #AntimicrobialResistance. Let's decide, right now, that THIS year we will be a little kinder, a little more patient, a little less driven by business and a little more by stewardship. Let's remember that it's not the destination that matters but the journey. The measure of TRUE wealth is not what you have, but what you give to others. Security is my business and it's what I know, but if you need an ear, a shoulder or just want to say hello, I will be here. Reach out, reach up and have a safe and prosperous 2020!
