that I forgot to look at the struggle other endures

I was so focused on the wrong I know

that I forgot to find the unknown right

I was so focused on the facts I discovered

that I forgot to uncover the hidden truth

I was so focused on protecting myself from the cunning

that I forgot to detect the honesty

I was so focused on pointing out bad in people

that I forgot to seek the good in them

I was so focused on the expectations unmatched

that I forgot to appreciate the gifts unasked

I was so focused on the scattered negativity

that I forgot to sort the positivity

I was so focused on the story I was told

that I forgot to hear the unsung tale

I was focused on the things I want to say

that I forgot to listen the pain unsaid

I was so focused on my emotional wounds

that I forgot the heartache I caused

I was so focused on defeating someone for my ego

that I forgot to win hearts with my humility
