Reflections is the topic for December 2021.
And the conversation started with technical reflection offered by Java programming language and also Log4j framework as most of the attendees were techies ??
Reflections are made as part of lessons learnt after the project is executed in the IT world ... but we never look into those ?again – so are the same mistakes getting repeated??
However, we(Yash Wadhia, Rohit Gupta, Naveen Samala, Avinash Pinto, Sourish Ghosh, Prabhakar Reddy, Nitesh Verma, Sudhakar Nagandla & Kavitha Garla) have quickly shifted gears and started sharing our reflections.
Should we learn from experiences - be it good or bad - throughout the year or through out the life?
Have you ever wondered “how our views or thoughts reflecting on others?”
What others are thinking about you or what am I thinking about myself?
Reflection is a wonderful tool or technique in life, it revolves around cause and effect relation - use reflection effectively and efficiently to better ourselves.
When we look back into childhood, from school and college life etc. – We will notice how body and mind is always learning from reflections...
One need to take the reflections cautiously - if we put serious thoughts, we will get better..
Future is about prediction, reflection is about the past...
One participant shared his life story - fond of looking at self in a mirror, to see twin/doppelganger version, seeing everything as a kid was always amusing...as we grow up, we are not getting time to check/see yourself in mirror
Aim to be a source of reflection to inspire others...
Here comes an interesting perspective from our “story teller” - Reflection was all about the bosses telling people how bad they were performing - during the appraisal conversations
In these great resignation era, belongingness to the company is important - tell people about what they are good at - reflect on their positive things, that will go a long way...
e.g. if you say someone has a good smile, they will continue to smile more.
Also, look at good things and find reasons for people to smile...
As the hosts of the meeting are podcasters, there is no conversation without talking about podcasts and here is what Spotify has done from the reflection angle -?Spotify has shared with its listeners, a summary of top 3 podcasts, number of podcast episodes listened, time spent etc.
The talk was concluded with a few powerful questions on self-reflection pondered upon by the attendees:
Am I doing the best or giving the best?
Batteries are same size for power - whereas storage size has shrunk. Why humans are not focusing on power or energy? (why are we not using it)
If we have power, we can covert air to water - with power we can cruise to other planet, can collect the power from lightning, etc.
Whether my actions are making someone unhappy... are my actions causing harm to anyone else? Most importantly, help a person who has harmed you as well
Who we really are? What's our purpose in life?
Do I really deserve the stuff that I own?
What's the meaning of existence? (Trying to figure out through books and spiritual, mythological and scientific ??)
You never learn the lessons sometimes, know what’s wrong - once you know it, then convert the wrongs into rights. Keep making mistakes again? At what point will the things change?
Are we analyzing life too much? From society, social media, huge overloads of information, we are not super computers...that's why we are asking these questions at the early stage? ?In this infodemic period – there is too much of unvalidated information from WA, FB universities etc. Consume information/data wisely ??
