So easy to judge!

My daughter once came back from her collage extremely upset and low. She didn't have lunch or even evening snack. She just locked herself in her room. I asked her a couple of times if she did like to talk or share but she refused. I too though we need to respect the space a person needs and let her be. I told her the dinner is kept in the fridge and if she feels hungry at night she can have it. In the morning as i am an early riser i saw she had eaten her dinner & that obviously made me feel better. While I was making tea for myself she came and hugged me from behind and started crying. I asked her if she did like to talk over a cup of tea, which she agreed. My daughter and I love to talk and share what ever we go thru during the morning hours (4@m) types. We sat with our cups of tea and she shared the reason for being upset. Her very close friend ditched her. She had taked part in a play where the lead role was initially offered to my daughter and her friend spoke to the director of the play and grabbed the role from her. I heard her out and asked if she spoke to her friend to understand this behaviour, she simply said I don't even want to talk to her. I thought this was the right time to share a story with her.So i said let me ask u a question after sharing a story. She was used to my style of making her self reflect as it had always helped her. A cruise ship had an accident at sea and needed to evacuate the passengers. One couple, having made their way to the lifeboats, realized that there was only space for one more person. At this moment, the man pushed the woman behind him and jumped onto the lifeboat himself. The lady stood on the sinking ship and shouted one sentence to her husband.

I stopped and asked, "What do you think she shouted?" Oh how mean and selfish that man was. Poor lady am sure she must have said "I hate you!” “I was blind!" my daughter said. Not really, She said "Take care of our child!’". My daughter was surprised but waited to here the rest of the story very peacefully. The cruise ship sunk. The man went home and brought up their daughter single handedly. Many years later after the death of the man, their daughter found his diary while tidying his belongings. It turns out that when the parents boarded the cruise ship, the mother had already been diagnosed with a terminal illness. At the critical moment, the father rushed to the only chance of survival. He wrote in his diary, "How I wished to sink to the bottom of the ocean with you, but for the sake of our daughter, I can only let you lie forever below the sea alone". This is why we shouldn’t only focus on the surface and judge others without understanding them first. My daughter smiled and decided to sok to her friend. That evening she came home with a big broad smile. She said mom u were right. I was recommended for the role of a narrator and the mc. Which gives me greater visibility and an opportunity to share the dias with the chief guest and the top dignitaries cmg for the event.

Reflect in life and how often we only focus on the surface and judge others without understanding them first. Those who like to pay the bill do so because they value friendship above money,?take the initiative because they understand what responsibility means, apologize first because they value relationship over their ego. Remember sooner or later in life we will all separate & years later when we will see some old picture we will smile with invisible tears & recall “It was them that I had the best days of my life with.” The irony of life is we judge others by their fault and themselves by their goodness because we are very good lawyers for our own mistakes & very good judges for the mistakes of others. There’s some untold story behind every human, don’t ever judge them as if you know about their whole life story, because the truth is always something else. Lets go ahead in life and think before you speak, feel before you hurt and understand before you judge
