Reflection on attending Fujisawa’s Automotive Hall of Fame induction

We have celebrated a number of big historical milestones during the past year.?Last fall, we marked the 50th anniversary of HTA.?This year, Global Honda celebrated the 75th anniversary of Honda Motor Co., Ltd.?We also were thrilled to have Honda Motor co-founder Takeo Fujisawa inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in Detroit, Michigan, joining our founder Soichiro Honda in receiving this honor.

Attending on behalf of our president Haruo Maeda and the entire HTA team, it was an honor for me to join leaders representing the family of Honda companies in America to honor Mr. Fujisawa.?We all felt a tremendous spirit of camaraderie in coming together to honor our co-founder, a spirit we owe to the example he set.

.I was really inspired by several speakers who spoke about the incredible respect Mr. Fujisawa and Soichiro Honda had for each other. The two were mentors to each other, and respectfully encouraged each other to learn, share new ideas, and grow while sharing the same values. Collaboration between leaders and associates is key.

The approach established by our co-founders continues to guide how Honda Trading America does business. One of Mr. Fujisawa’s contributions to Honda philosophy is the need to “Carry our own torch with our own hands.”?This is something HTA has done from our beginning in 1972.?We have often served as the pioneer for new approaches to business for Honda in America.

I was proud to attend Mr. Fujisawa’s induction, and even more proud to be a Honda associate sharing the same values of the company founders.
