A Reflection of 10 Years

A Reflection of 10 Years

Experts say that it is healthy to reflect on the wins daily, especially when one like myself tends to see problems to solve first. I recently celebrated 10 years of running my studio, JH Creative.

I went in not knowing much about how to run a business and I can look back and say I have learned so much. I chose this path to have control, balance, the ability to provide quality services to clients and to have the freedom to put my family and loved ones first above my career.

10 for 10: What JHC Learned & Significant Accomplishments

  1. 4 beautiful, smart, and sweet children under the age of 16 all on the honor roll. Note: Nothing of my personal doing.
  2. Average of 300 loads of laundry baskets/year, 365 dishwashing days/year, 156 school & soccer pick-up routes and schedules planned weekly per year, and 20 health appts. planned/quarter. Around 152+ meals planned/year for a family of 6. Note: Dog care not included.
  3. Provided services to over 100+ clients completing over 1,000+ projects
  4. Trained and hired over 30+ college interns to gain marketing experience
  5. Helped place several graduates with jobs and grad school by providing letters of recommendation and reference
  6. Remotely Onboarded & Employed 10 part-timers through Covid shutdowns while other interns were turned away at larger companies.
  7. Participated in world-class marketing boot camps and programs to level up
  8. Unplanned but met so many awesome people throughout the years including friendly, humble billionaires and millionaires
  9. Created over 60+ episodes of Livestreams on my channels and continue to learn along the way
  10. Passed on hundreds of referrals to many fellow entrepreneurs and contributed back with hours of mentor sessions

This path is not easy. You have to go through the cycle of proving your value to strangers and that you believe you will do whatever it takes to take them to the next level. I have learned from the best and I strive to get to their level, so that in turn help others succeed and avoid the downfalls of running a business.

I saw firsthand how my parents grew a business from $0 to millions in Silicon Valley and supported hundreds of families locally and overseas during the recession of the '80s-'90s. My father with a Ph.D. was overqualified and could not find a job in his field, so he did what every entrepreneur does well. That was to create something out of nothing, solve problems, and survive for the sake of others, in his case, for his family. I also saw how they were taken advantage of and misled by so-called consultants and service providers and lost money in the process. I saw how they were at a disadvantage because of their backgrounds, yet that did not hold them back from accomplishing what they were able to do.

That same fire is in me and I am determined that I will get there so that others like me can, too.

Here's to another 10!
