Reflecting on a Year of Creativity and Growth

A year ago, I took the leap into what some might call "retirement," but for me, it has been the start of an entirely new chapter. After leaving my school teaching career, I wondered how I might channel my passion for creativity, teaching, and connection into something new.

Here’s where that journey has taken me so far:

?? Art and Dance Sessions: Setting up local sessions has allowed me to connect with my community in such a joyful way. Seeing others light up as they create or move to music is a reminder of how powerful the arts can be.

?? YouTube Channel: I’ve ventured into the world of digital teaching, sharing art and craft tutorials with a global audience. Creating this space has been both a challenge and a delight, and I’m thrilled to be inspiring creativity far and wide. Honestly, the community here has been overwhelmingly positive! ?? Published Author: I fulfilled a dream by writing The Art of Play, a book celebrating the importance of creativity and playfulness at every stage of life. Writing has been a wonderful way to reflect on and share what I’ve learned. If you like, you can get my book here

?? Haikus and Poetry: Slowing down to capture moments in simple words has become a deeply personal practice for me. These small verses remind me to embrace mindfulness and to find beauty in the everyday.

This journey has taught me that retirement doesn’t have to mean stepping away—it can mean stepping into new opportunities, passions, and ways to grow.
