Reflecting on a Transformative Year

As we approach the end of 2024, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey this year has been. This year, I made a conscious decision to go bigger—not just in my work but in my mission to help organizations create thriving corporate cultures where employees feel valued, engaged, and motivated to stay. Rather than focusing solely on helping executives recover from burnout, I aimed to foster environments that support employee well-being at every level.
This shift in focus meant that I wasn’t as actively engaged in speaking and coaching as in previous years. However, I had the pleasure of connecting with some new industries, including the Jewish Federation (a special thank you to Andrew for that opportunity), as well as sectors like engineering, manufacturing, and tech.
Looking ahead to 2025, I’m excited to announce that I will be concentrating my efforts specifically on the hospitality industry—a sector notorious for its high turnover rates. With hospitality being Florida's number one industry, it’s crucial to address these challenges head-on and implement strategies for turnover reduction.
This past year was also filled with personal growth and accomplishments. I had the honor of serving as President of the Florida Speakers Association and even emceed a storytelling competition. In addition, I introduced 360-degree feedback for my coaching clients, which has proven invaluable in fostering their development.
I published three books this year: Wheely Good Team Building, Currents of Change (focused on change management), and The Zen of Work (exploring mindfulness and tension). Additionally, I collaborated with a professor at Penn State on a new book about employee retention that will be launching in January—you're all invited to the book launch!
Throughout the year, I helped my coaching clients navigate various challenges—from leaving ultra-stressful jobs in search of better work-life balance to growing their businesses and turning their passions into new ventures. Some even dealt with micromanaging bosses while exploring other career possibilities.
On a personal note, I took improv classes and worked on a new keynote focused on leadership. I cherished time spent with family during spring break and celebrated milestones such as my daughter getting her braces off and watching my blind husband swim the Miami Mile 5K open water swim. We enjoyed outings together, including Cirque du Soleil, performances by magician Asi Wind, Meghan Trainor, and a Beatles tribute band.
This year also included significant family moments: attending my nephew’s bar mitzvah in Israel, celebrating my daughter’s graduation from middle school and my son’s graduation from elementary school, and taking a family vacation to Greece. A special week spent alone with my husband while the kids were away at camp was a rare treat!
However, it wasn’t without its challenges; I supported a dear friend through the loss of her mother and faced the unfortunate news that all our belongings in storage were accidentally sent to the dump—including precious childhood albums.
