Reflecting on Three Types of Love
As I reflect on the meaning of love, I’m reminded of three types of love that continue to show up in my life and have had a profound impact on my business and professional integrity:
When I think about love for each other, I’m reminded that it's my brain trust that lifts me during challenging times and our shared joy that amplifies my happiness. To love someone other than yourself requires vulnerability and allowing someone into the most sacred parts of your being. It means sharing your dreams, fears, and insecurities, trusting that they will hold them gently. It’s about accepting flaws and celebrating imperfections, recognizing that love is not about perfection but about connection and community.??
Love for oneself is equally profound. This is the foundation that allows me to thrive. It’s about embracing my flaws and celebrating my strengths, recognizing my worth, and granting myself the grace to grow. Self-love empowers me to set boundaries, pursue my passions, and cultivate a positive mindset. When you love yourself, you create a foundation from which to love others authentically and unconditionally.
And then there is love for life and things— the joy of exploring new places, the satisfaction of creating something meaningful and the simple joys that fill our lives daily. These things, though material, can evoke deep emotions and memories that connect us to our past and inspire our future.
Together, these three types of love create a richness in my life that is multifaceted. It is the laughter shared over dinner, the quiet moments of stillness, and the journey that teaches us about each other and ourselves. Love, in all its forms, is what makes life rich and meaningful. It is the thread that binds us, the force that drives us, and the essence of our shared humanity.
This past Valentine's Day, I celebrated love in so many forms… from a home cooked dinner with my parents who flew in from TX, to a date night with my hubby and a very special Galentine’s brunch!?
In this season, what I know for certain is that love transcends time and space, weaving together the fabric of our relationships, and reminding us of our shared connectivity as people. Let us cherish and celebrate the love that surrounds us, nurturing it with kindness, understanding, and gratitude.
Love is in the air!
