Reflecting on Sustainable Tech Fest 2024: Innovation and Environmental Action

Last month saw Sumillion’s Sustainable Tech Fest 2024. We’d firstly like to thank everyone who participated at Tech Fest 2024. It was truly motivating to see technology enthusiasts, sustainability advocates, and football fans come together to join in with insightful discussions and explore new possibilities.

Our fantastic guest speakers, including Ola Fagerstrom from Microsoft, Martin Bradburn from PeaSoup, and Gary Ward from IBT, shared valuable insights into driving positive environmental changes through advanced technology. We're really grateful for brining these aspirations to life.

Microsoft Surface demonstrated their commitment to sustainability with initiatives such as eco-friendly product design, renewable energy investments, and carbon footprint reduction efforts across their operations. Ola Fagerstrom's keynote highlighted Microsoft's innovative approach to sustainable technology solutions, inspiring attendees to rethink the environmental impact of their IT infrastructure.

PeaSoup.Cloud unveiled a revolutionary eco-friendly liquid-cooled data centre, leveraging heat recovery technology to minimise energy consumption and reduce cooling costs. Martin Bradburn's presentation highlighted the environmental benefits and highlighted that we should consider the carbon footprint even when our data is in the cloud.

IBT Media demonstrated their commitment to sustainability by pledging to donate ￡100 to charity for every screen sold through Tech Fest. Their initiatives and fantastic product portfolio supports responsible consumption but also supports charitable causes that align with our own objectives.

Circular Computing showcased their commitment to sustainability by offering remanufactured laptops offering the highest quality standards, extending the lifecycle of IT hardware, and reducing electronic waste. The circular economy model provides a meaningful and cost-effective solution. Cisco Refresh emphasises the importance of extending the lifecycle of equipment through refurbishment and resale. Cisco Refresh is encouraging the reuse of hardware and incentivises organisations to consider this approach, crucial in reducing global e-waste.

Asif Rehmanwala delivered a compelling talk highlighting the initiatives undertaken by Ecotricity, Sky Diamond, and Forest Green Rovers. Their collective efforts exemplify a commitment to environmental stewardship and serve as inspiring examples for businesses and organisations worldwide.

Held at the world's most sustainable football club, Forest Green Rovers, the event showcases the power of technology to create positive environmental changes.

With live music from The Wicked Uncles and magic performances to interactive games and delicious plant-based cuisine, Sustainable Tech Fest offered something special for everyone. Attendees of all ages engaged with the event and learned about why choosing sustainable technology will have a lasting impact in the future. ?

Unlike other events, we transitioned from traditional print methods to cutting-edge touch-screen technology, a transformation made possible by the generous support of our partner, IBT. Furthermore, PeaSoup demonstrated their commitment to sustainability by offsetting the CO2 emissions generated by guests travelling to the event.

The event provided the opportunity to bring together like-minded individuals who share our vision for a more sustainable future.
