Reflecting On The Struum Journey
Wow, what an incredible journey this has been. A few days ago, The Wall Street Journal broke the news of our startup, Struum. I wanted to share a bit more of our story. Several months ago, an idea that sparked over lunch between friends became the vision and mission that we are building toward today. At the start, we were all feeling our way through this new way of working remotely. My partners and I (like everyone else in the world) were confined in our homes but connected via Zoom, Slack, email, text and the phone every day, melding our visions for this business. When we all jumped into the pool together holding hands, I doubted if we would be able to launch a company during a pandemic - but we did it.
Inspired by our new mission, we quickly realized that we were no longer bound by traffic and driving across town or flying across country. The usual two in-person meetings per day, became six Zoom meetings per day. We talked to potential investors, content partners, tech partners and talent from all around the world. 30-35 meetings a week. I believe this propelled our business forward more quickly.
Our mission is simple: to create the easiest way for people to find more of the content they love by providing value through a single subscription. We want to simplify discovery of exceptional content in an overwhelming streaming landscape.
We are thrilled to work with our content partners and provide them a unique experience to optimally brand their content within our service. Eugene, Paul, Thomas and I have worked for some of the biggest brands in the world; we know the value of brand recognition to these services. We are in service to them as we introduce the consumer to the incredible content offered by their brands.
I am also thrilled to announce that we will be working with partners like Firstlight Media and Microsoft Azure, who are helping us realize our vision with their first-in-class technology that is bringing this platform to market in a matter of months.
Struum is coming spring 2021 and I can’t wait to continue to update you on the amazing things ahead. #struum, #streamingsimplified, #startups, #startupstory, #business, #investment, #wsj Paul Pastor, Thomas Wadsworth, Eugene Liew, Ben Pyne, Nancy Tellem, Donald Hicks, Andy Redman
