Reflecting on Six Months Abroad: My Journey at the University of Nottingham

As I stepped foot into Nottingham on the crisp night of September 22nd, 2023, I couldn't help but feel a whirlwind of emotions. Everything around me seemed unfamiliar, yet filled with the promise of new adventures and opportunities. Little did I know, this journey would shape me in ways I never imagined.

Waking up to a new dawn in a foreign land, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery and growth. Despite the initial apprehensions, I dove headfirst into university life, eagerly embracing every challenge and opportunity that came my way. Within a short span, I found myself juggling not just one, but an array of part-time roles – Student Ambassador, International Student Ambassador, Global Buddy, and Welcome Executive. Each role has been a stepping stone, guiding me towards a deeper understanding of myself and the world around me.

Each role presented its unique set of challenges and learning opportunities, pushing me to step out of my comfort zone and expand my horizons. Whether it was motivating prospective students during campus tours or sharing my positive experiences on platforms like LinkedIn, every interaction contributed to my personal and professional growth.

What truly stood out during my journey at the University of Nottingham was the unwavering support and guidance I received from the faculty, staff, and career services team. The structured course curriculum, coupled with the expertise of the faculty members, provided me with a solid foundation to thrive academically.

Furthermore, the Careers Team at the Business School played a pivotal role in shaping my career trajectory, offering insightful guidance and support at every step of the way. Their dedication to student success and holistic development is truly commendable.

As an international student, I received an abundance of support and guidance from amazing people who helped me navigate this journey. It was challenging at times, but with time and connections with incredible people and alumni who motivated me to persevere and learn from my mistakes, I came a long way.

Now, as I mark the exact six-month milestone of my journey, I find myself beaming with happiness and gratitude. The girl who once hesitated to leave her hometown of Nasik is now thriving in a foreign land, fueled by newfound focus, discipline, and awareness of endless opportunities. Every day brings forth new challenges and learning experiences, propelling me closer to my goals.

As I reflect on my journey so far, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude towards the University of Nottingham and its myriad facilities and services. From fostering a welcoming environment to providing ample opportunities for growth and development, the university has truly been a beacon of support throughout my journey.

As I eagerly anticipate the unfolding of the next chapters, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for what lies ahead.
