Reflecting on Myriad’s journey this Heritage Day : Key milestones and achievements

2000: The Birth of Reflex, Our journey began over two decades ago in a small building on 220 Jan Smuts fueled by passion and a vision to make technology accessible for all. From just six dedicated individuals, Reflex grew into a family of over 400, united in the mission to make? technology accessible to everyone. Our commitment to excellence, continuous improvement and striving to “do better and to be better” has driven our growth and customer success.
2013: A Pivotal Moment in Fibre Connectivity, The announcement of the first commercial fibre to the home (FTTH) service in South Africa was a pivotal moment in our history. At the time, fibre was expected to remain a niche product for only the wealthiest customers. But within just a few years, access to high-speed, resilient fibre broadband has become almost ubiquitous for households and businesses everywhere in the country. Reflex was an early pioneer in FTTX services, addressing the demand for high-speed connectivity in a country plagued by copper network challenges, including cable theft. What started as a solution for the security industry quickly expanded to connect homes, transforming the way South Africans access the internet.
2016: The Rise of Automation Exchange( AEX) While our group provided essential transmission networks and data centres, the introduction of the AEX platform marked a significant advancement. While businesses within the group had the transmission networks and the data centres the industry needed, a critical factor was the development of the AEX software platform and product catalogue for fibre providers. Today, the AEX platform powers web applications through which homeowners can check availability of fibre in their area, managing the end-to-end process across multiple partner’s systems, from ordering, provisioning and deploying engineers, through to billing and proactive maintenance. More recently AEX expanded its marketing and sales automation offerings for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Fiber Network Operators (FNOs) with the acquisition of local tech business TelcoTech. 2018: Launch of Open Fibre With the establishment of Open Fibre, we set out to create a digitally-ready ecosystem for commercial buildings and shopping centres. This initiative offers businesses in over 200 (and counting) shopping centres and office parks, a fibre connection in just five days. By streamlining the connectivity process, we’ve significantly accelerated access to high-speed internet in urban environments, enhancing the digital landscape across South Africa. 2022: Metrowatt and Renewable Energy As we’ve helped shape the fibre industry, Myriad is also addressing South Africa’s energy crisis through Metrowatt, our solar energy provider. Expanding Access Through Innovation We continue to innovate by providing affordable internet services to underprivileged urban areas. Our investments into the fibre industry, including ISPs Evotel and Net Nine Nine, and the mobile digital media platform Think Digital Media, ensure that township communities have access to the internet, bridging the digital divide.
